Overview

This is a great activity to open an engagement to make sure that all external team members are on the same page. It's also a quick way to co-create the beginnings of a brief with clients.

Steps

  1. Create 5 Wall Post-Its with the following questions: "What is the problem? "How will this work solve the problem?" "Who are our audiences?" "Why is this important?" "What impact do we want to make?"
  2. You can either brainstorm these questions as a group popcorn style, or have individuals fill out post-its for each question. If you have individuals create post-it answers, you'll need to group answers live in the room.
  3. Return a refined version of this work to clients in a share back / brief, clearly showing where you tightened language or made adjustments.
  • If there's a lot of hierarchy in a group, I would recommend doing individual post-its as opposed to a large group brainstorm. This allows people to speak their mind without fear of one voice monopolizing the conversation.

Debrief

Wrap this exercise by recapping up to three (3) key themes that emerged as part of the conversation. Ask group members if anything new came out of this exercise that they weren't expecting going into this project.
